DESTINY'S MOM

Hello my name is Vusisiswe and I would like to tell you how my life has been changed by the church "House of Prayer" and the project "Children of Destiny at Home" (CODAH) here in the township Mpumalanga.

It was about 2 years ago that I found out I was pregnant. I was living with my boyfriend but when I told him I was pregnant he said he wasn't the father and left me. I was in a terrible panic and ran to my neighbor. She invited me to go to church with her and I did. The first service I went to they spoke about how being a victim is a choice. After the service I spoke to the team about my situation and I made the decision not to be a victim. I already knew that I was pregnant with a girl so I decided to call her Destiny. I learned at church that words carry power, and that I would be good to proclaim this for myself and my daughter. I believe that we are born with a God-given destiny.

My whole life changed that morning. I became a Christian and I realized that it was for the best that my boyfriend left me. He would abuse me often. I was really worried about how I was going to care for the baby and myself. The team helped me take the Life Skill course to teach me how to get a job or to start studying. With a study grant I received, I am now studying to be a social worker.

Things are going well for us. I know now that words carry a lot of power. Every day we proclaim God's destiny over our lives. Funny how at church on one call me Vusisiswe anymore, but Destiny's mom.

I thank God for the team at CODAH and for what they have done for us. They didn't just give me a fish, they taught me how to go fishing!
